No. 1 seed Matt Peek TGM (NZL) confirmed that he is the best Tantrix player ever by winning his third World title in a row in style, recording his 19th consecutive WTC match win by 115.3-64.7 (7 games to 2) in the most one-sided Final so far despite facing his toughest Final opponent yet in Shaun Cooper ITM (NZL), the no. 2 seed, the fourth time in five years that Shaun has lost to the first fellow kiwi he has faced in the competition. It is hard to imagine who is going to end Matt's amazing run in the WTC and even harder to imagine anyone ever matching his three consecutive WTC victories!

Only the second unseeded player ever to reach the SFs, Rick Yagodich (GBR) recovered from two games down to come 3rd, winning his last four games against Laszlo Szobonya (HUN), the no. 15 seed. The Plate Final saw main draw no. 3 seed Péter Petrecz (HUN), who had beaten his son Adam early in the competition, taking on 14-y-o Brett Laishley (AUS), who beat his own father Garry Laishley (AUS) in the SFs! The dads prevailed at the end, Péter wiping out Brett by 5 games to 0 to take 1st place (a reverse of last year's Plate Final in terms of nationalities) and Garry finishing 3rd.

There were originally 166 entrants of whom 155 players ended up taking part (21% more than last year) from the 21 countries whose flags you can see above. The number of entrants from each country who actually played is shown next to each flag. The top 64 players on seeding points qualified automatically for the 128-player main draw which started in September, with the remaining players playing in 32 preliminary groups in August to decide the other qualifiers. The WTC has over the years been viewed the media in various parts of the world and a surge of interest this year has seen the home page for this year's event receive around 25,000 times, as many as all of the WTC results pages in total last year!
