The African and Asian Tantrix Championships, played online as a single event, is open to all Tantrix players living in or coming from countries on those two continents, with the highest-placed entrant from each continent becoming that continent's champion for 2009. (*)
The reigning African Champion is Mauro Lazzara (ANG) and the defending Asian Champion is Kuo-Shiang Tzu (TWN).
Entries have now closed and the draw will take place later this week, exact date to be confirmed.
(*) Please note that because we only have one African entrant this year, they will have to reach a minimum standard in order for a 2009 African Champion to be declared. That minimum standard is finishing in the top four (i.e. reaching the semi-finals), selected because all previous African Champions have finished in the top four of a combined tournament, 4 having won them, 1 finishing 2nd and one 4th. The African entrant was given the option of either this or not playing in this tournament and playing off for the African Championship if another African player came along later in the year and selected the former.
