How to get there
If you are flying from elsewhere in Europe, budget airlines that fly
directly to Edinburgh include
Easyjet
(from Cologne, Munich, Krakow, Paris CDG, Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon,
etc);
Ryanair (from Stockholm,
Gothenburg, Paris Beauvais, Frankfurt Hahn, Oslo, Barcelona, etc).
Jet2.com also has direct flights from
Budapest.
If you are coming by rail, the station you most likely want is
Edinburgh Waverley. The cheapest tickets are available when the tickets
go on sale 12 weeks in advance (so from around 25 March).
Another public transport option is the very cheap
Megabus which stops in
the city centre, also close to the train station.
Format / Timetable
(Updated on 16.06.2011)
The format will be an all-play-all round robin, with everyone playing against each other entrant twice.
As some players need to leave relatively early on the Sunday, there will be ten rounds played on the Saturday and eight on the Sunday, with the games on Sunday also starting earlier.
On the Saturday, the first round will commence at
09:00, and the last should finish at around
18:10, with a break for lunch. Play on Sunday will take place between
08:45 and
16:10, with the presentations being made shortly afterwards.
Matches will count towards Table ELO ratings, but you do
not need an ELO rating in order to
enter.
Entry fee / Prizes
The entry fee is £15, which covers part of the cost of the venue
and prizes.
There will be small monetary prizes for the top two finishers, as well as
game prizes and medals for each of the top three. The winner will also get their name on
the British Open trophy!
