Congratulations to no. 3 seed Murray Pharaoh (Wellington) who went one better than last year by becoming the 2003 NZ Champion. He followed up his stunning SF win over the reigning champion by thrashing no. 8 seed and World Junior runner-up Chris Hill (Gisborne) in the first NZ Final not to involve a player from Auckland. No. 6 seed Catherine Moxham (Palmerston North) beat no. 1 seed Matt Peek (Auckland) to finish 3rd. Cat is the first female player to be placed in four years of this event!
