Champion bluedog (CAN) James Preen |
Canadian James Preen (CAN), the no. 7 seed, took on five Americans in the Final Group phase of this year's Pan Am and finished on top to end Brad's two-year reign at the top and become the first player from outside the USA ever to win this event. Jed Mihalisin (US-nv) was the top US player, taking the runner-up spot for the second year in succession.
Reigning Champion Brad Swanlund (US-ca) made a strong attempt to become the first player ever to win a tournament three years in a row (as well as doing a fantastic job of controlling and publishing the results for the whole tournament) and he did finish in the top three, his 3rd place maintaining California's 5-year stranglehold on that position.
