7TH SWEDISH OPEN (OFFLINE) (2010)
TOURNAMENT HOME PAGE
13-14 Nov
The 7th Swedish Open Table Tantrix Championship (‘SOTTC’) will take place on the 13-14th November 2010 at Tom Tits Experiment in Södertälje. Last year entrants from 7 different countries took part, with Niklas Andersson from Sweden emerging as winner, Heli Niemi from Finland as runner-up and Swedish Monica Palmer took bronze.

If you’re thinking of entering, please read below to find out the most important information.

Where and when?
The dates are the 13th-14th November. The times will depend on how many entrants we end up with, but approximately 9:00-17:00 on both days with a break for lunch sometime during the day.

The venue will be the science centre Tom Tits Experiment in Södertälje.

On Friday night there will be a get together at Palmers place in Trosa where food and entertainment will be provided (and the draw).

Lunch buffet can be bought at the venue for a cost of 11 euros. You can also bring your own lunch - there are microwave ovens and a rest area.

On Saturday evening we will go to a restaurant for a tournament dinner.

Entrance fee and prizes
The entrance fee will depend on the number of entrant, but is certain to be no more than 15 euros, which includes refreshments.

The winner will get a trophy to keep for a year. Medals will be given to the top three players. No prize money will be given.

Accommodation
You can choose to stay in Trosa or Södertälje (or of course any other place too if you wish).

In previous years many players have stayed at a hostel in Trosa called “Vandrarhemmet Snipan”. Their website is http://www.vandrarhemmetsnipan.com, where you can find information in English. Single rooms are from 28 euros per night and double rooms from 40 euros per night.

Other (more expensive) options in Trosa are the hotel Bomans, http://www.bomans.se, and Trosa Stadshotell, http://www.trosastadshotell.se, both of which cost about 100 euro per night.

How to get there?
When flying from abroad the closest airport is Stockholm Skavsta, followed by Stockholm Bromma and then Stockholm Arlanda.

From Skavsta you can get the bus to Nyköping, which only takes 12 minutes, whereupon you have about 1 hour by bus to Trosa. Cost is about 7 Euros per person, half price for people younger than 20. Tickets can be bought on the bus, but please note you can’t pay with cash, so bring your credit card.

If you’re staying at Vandrarhemmet Snipan they offer a pick-up from Skavsta for a cost of 40 euros.

From Bromma there are buses first to Stockholm, then train from Stockholm to Vagnhärad and finally bus from Vagnhärad to Trosa. This trip takes about 2 hours and costs about 20 euros.

From Arlanda you first have to take Arlanda Express (Train) to Stockholm, from where you take train to Vagnhärad and then finally bus to Trosa. This trip takes about 2 hours and costs about 36 euros. Please note that it’ll be more expensive if you buy a ticket on the train instead of booking in advance.

If you need help with booking tickets, just ask me and I’ll try to help you!

Tournament format
If not too many entrants the format will be all play all. Otherwise some kind of Swiss system will be used. The exact format will be decided when we know the exact numbers of entrants.

Further questions…?
Don’t hesitate to contact Niklas, Monica, Lewis or Lennart and we’ll do our best to help you.

Looking forward to see you all in Sweden in November!
Niklas

Boring but important ...

1) We have to reserve the right to default and/or ban at our discretion people whom we have very good reason to think are either cheating or not making an effort to arrange a match, even if (given the nature of the Internet) we cannot prove it. We will not, however, abuse this right - in previous tournaments it has only been very rarely necessary to make use of it and we very much hope that will continue to be the case.

2) We have had two instances in the last four years of people using different names to enter the World Championship more than once in the same year. This is grossly unfair to the other players so, in order to protect the integrity of the major Tantrix tournaments and to be fair to the vast majority of players who are honest, we reserve the right to request evidence of identity from participants during the tournament if this is felt to be necessary at any stage and to disqualify anyone who cannot prove that they are who they say they are if requested to do so. This is unlikely to affect you, but you need to be aware of this possibility before entering.

3) If you enter, please ensure that emails from tournaments@tantrix.co.uk and auto@tantrix.co.uk (and, once the tournament starts, emails from your AC and opponents) will not be blocked under any circumstances. This is because if we are unable to contact you by email for an extended period, we may have to default you out of the competition and this may lead to a ban from future tournaments.

4) If you enter this tournament, please ensure that you have anti-virus software that is updated regularly on the computer you use to email your opponents.
