I don't know if any of you on the tables near me were wondering why I was typing early in each round - well, the reason was that having not managed to find the time to do a proper report on the BOTTC since 2003, I had realised that the only way I was ever going to manage it again was to write it during the tournament itself!
It also meant that I was able to work out which games I ideally needed pictures of - yes, there was some method in my madness!
Julia has since been adding in all the images and the report now just needs the text for R15 added and a bit of tidying up, which I'll do tonight or at latest tomorrow night. |

Really nice to read your long report Steven.
Must have been really exciting for all players to take part in the compition, since it was a very even - only a few TP:s in differens all time in for the medals.
Congrats to all players, especially the medalists!
This year I was not able to be there, but I hope I can get to a BO in the future. |

Just a quick note to say that my attention has been drawn to a comment I made in the report about one players preventing a problem linked to a duplicate tile from 'turning ugly'. This was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment, but re-reading it, I agree that it could easily come over badly, especially to someone who wasn't there, so I've changed it.
In fact, I also meant to say that I was very pleased with the mature way in which the three tricky situations that arose were handled by the players involved.
In situations like that, the controller always needs to ask some questions to try to ascertain exactly what has happened and what the implications were. In two of those cases, the players ended up agreeing between themselves during this process to the ruling I would have made without me having to impose a ruling on them, which I found very impressive!
The third case involved a misunderstanding/mis-reading of a rule which was also quickly sorted out with the minimum of fuss. |
