DO 2010
It's very early, but since we already booked the venue anyway, we might as well make the announcement:
Date: 25 & 26 september 2010
Venue: Het Kruithuis (gunpowder magazine) in Delft. A picturesque 17th century building which was rebuilt 'one canonshot' from the city, shortly after the original one exploded in 1654, wiping out part of the old town. Het Kruithuis is now under supervision of scouting club Delft.
Accomodation: at the venue there are two dormitories for 12 persons each. Costs: 32 euro for two nights (fri-sat & sat-sun) (note: we have a minimum stay of two nights, so although you are obviously not obligated to actually stay both nights, we will have to charge 32 euro, even if you stay only one night)
We can imagine dormitories are not everyone's cup of tea, so if you like you are free to book into a hotel. The one we think has the best value for money is Hotel de Uylenberg (Noordeindseweg 70, Delft) Public transport from there to the venue (especially on a sunday morning) might be a bit of a problem, but when we know how many people will stay there - if any, we're sure we can work something out with bicycles and/or cars. And for those who have a sleepingbag that can withstand the dutch september weather there is the option of pitching a tent on the kruithuis terrain for 5 euro per person per night.
Program: If there are enough early arrivals we will visit the museum of technology in the city centre of Delft on friday afternoon. After that we will go to the venue / accomodation where we invite everyone for a hearty 'home'-cooked meal. Drinks and games afterwards. We will start games at 9.30 on saturday and finish - depending on the number of rounds - late afternoon, early evening, after which we will head for a restaurant in the city center. Sunday we will again start at 9.30 and finish late afternoon.
Costs: the entrance fee for the tournament will be around 40 euro, which includes: entrance fee for the museum, dinner on friday and saturday, breakfast and lunch on saturday and sunday and drinks and snacks throughout the weekend. There will be no prizemoney, only prizes in the shape of games and puzzles.

Looks really great, great to see you are planning already! Isn't that near station Delft Zuid? If so, it could be very feasible for me |
