Pan-American Championship 1999 Results

Rounds 1-2 Minor chaos as, for the first time, more than one entrant doesn't appear and the schedule & format are rearranged. Ben gets a great start with two big wins, the Dyers and Chandan don't fare so well but Irene wins the 'all-Dyer' match.
Rounds 3-4 Keith and Irene draw, Dave gets his first (and only) win, v Chandan, who also loses to Irene. Ben beats Keith to go way ahead in 1st place.
Round 5 Chandan finishes with a win, v 3rd placed Keith, but it's not enough to stop him from being eliminated. Dave gets close to Ben but loses by 2 tiles. Going into the reverse matches, it's Crispy way ahead with 4 wins, Irene & Keith close for 2nd.
Rounds 6 Ben & Keith beat the Dyers to go 1st & 2nd, 25 TPs apart, Keith just 4 TPs ahead of Irene who is 12 TPs ahead of Dave.
Round 7 The second draw - and between the same players as the first one, Irene & Keith. Dave fails to beat Ben by only a single tile this time, guaranteeing Ben first place with 6 wins out of 6 and what's looking like an astronomical rating. Irene now needs to get 4 more TPs v Dave than Keith does v Ben to get the second Champions League place.
Round 8 Irene does what she needs to, beating Dave again to cap an unlucky day for him ... but *shock* Ben loses a game at last - running out of useful tiles at just the wrong time to give Keith a good win and 2nd place with the same W/D/L record as Irene but bigger wins & smaller losses.
