| * | Phase 2 draw date is provisional, but it will be one of 10, 11 or 12 Sep, most likely the 11th. | ||||||||||
| Ph 2 round lengths: | - as always, the standard length of a WTC round is 10 days. | ||||||||||
| - for the first five rounds of Phase 2, if the date ends in a 6, it's a deadline! | |||||||||||
| - all rounds include at least 3 days during that are Saturdays or Sundays | |||||||||||
| Ph 2 L128 is longer … | - because there are as many matches in the L128 as in all the other KO rounds put together! | ||||||||||
| - to try to limit and scheduling problems caused by a significant number of players being at the DO | |||||||||||
| - to give 3 or 4 days to identify anyone likely to default and let a LL with 10+ days still left to the d/l | |||||||||||
| QFs, etc are longer … | - because no. of games per match rises, so it is more likely that an extra session will be needed. | ||||||||||
| If you are away during the tournament and you are wondering whether it is ok to enter or not … | |||||||||||
| To be fair to the other players, a default (or a withdrawal too late to let in a lucky loser) in Phase 2, results in an automatic | |||||||||||
| 1-year ban from online tournaments unless we are satisfied that it is for a very good, unforeseeable reason. A default or late | |||||||||||
| withdrawal in Phase 1 may result in a ban if the same player has defaulted in the past or defaults in future. | |||||||||||
| So, if you are going to be away for half of the days (or more) in any one round, especially if those days are consecutive days, | |||||||||||
| you should only enter the tournament if you would be willing to find a way to play while you are away (e.g. at an Internet café) | |||||||||||
| IF it turned out that there was absolutely no other way to get your match completed by the deadline. | |||||||||||
| In most cases, you would not actually have to play while you are away - the kind of situation in which you would is if you | |||||||||||
| were completely unavailable for the first 7 days of a 10-day round like R2 and your opponent was completely unavailable. | |||||||||||
| for the last 4 days. Even in this situation, you may be able to arrange to get your R1 match finished early and ask those | |||||||||||
| playing in the match whose winner will be your R2 opponent to play early too, so that you can play R2 before you go away. | |||||||||||
| ACs will help as much as they can, but basically, it is your responsibility to get all your matches played on time if you enter. | |||||||||||
| If you think you may be a borderline case and you need some advice before making a final decision about whether to enter, | |||||||||||
| please write with a note of your unavailable dates to tournaments@tantrix.co.uk. | |||||||||||
