1999 WORLD TANTRIX - DOWNLOADABLE DRAWS
I have set up the draws on Excel spreadsheets to make it easier for me to update the results frequently on this site. On my PC, they also link into sheets with the individual game scores. The draw sheets weren't set up for 'publication' and I'm not claiming they're perfect, but I thought some of you might like the chance to use them yourselves.
If you input the TP scores, the pairings in later rounds will be filled in for you. You can use it to look at the draws offline, print them the way you want them to print and even experiment with guessed results to see exactly how the draw will shape up if results are as you expect.
If you want to use these files, you will need Excel 5.0/Excel 95 or higher. Using the links at the bottom of the page, you need to download either the main draw file (99wtcdrw.xls) or that file and the Plate draw file (99plate0.xls), both of which are about 150 KB in size and should take under a minute each to download using a 28.8 modem. You can save them to any directory, but you should save both to the same directory.
If you download both files, you should always load both into Excel before making any changes and save both at the end, even if you have only changed one. You should only input TP scores - everything else is automatic, though I haven't protected any of the other cells for now. The players' details for Rounds 1 and 2 of the Plate draw will be filled in for you once you have filled in the relevant TP scores in the main draw. Please read the short instructions on the second worksheet ("How to fill in the results") of one or other of the files before you start. When you open the Plate draw file, it may ask if you want to update links from another file - say yes. If it asks you which file and sheet to link to, tell it to use 99wtcdrw.xls and Sheet 1.
I'm afraid those without Excel will have to make do with the draws on this site and the Adobe Acrobat pdf files which will be available at the end of the tournament.
Are the files virus free? Well, they passed a scan with Norton Anti-Virus 5.0 using Symantec's 20 August 1999 virus definitions file. That would be safe enough for me, but it's your decision.
In Netscape, clicking on the links below should bring up the option to save the files.
In Internet Explorer, odd things seem to happen if you just click the link. Please click with the right hand button on your mouse and select "Save target as" - you'll need to replace the suggested name with the filenames shown next to the links.

In fact, if you download the files, then if you send me an email with just the words "download 1" for just the main draw or "download 2" for both draws, I'll let you know if anyone finds any errors.
